Meet the Director of Brand, Marketing and Communications for the organisation trying to bring MMA to the 2028 Olympics ahead of her contibution to the project



"MMA started at the top end on a professional, and on an entertainment platform, so it's grown differently, or upside down to other sports which started at the grassroots."

Isobel (Izzy) Carnwath is the Director of Brand, Marketing and Communications for the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), a democratic body founded to organise and drive the development of MMA on a global basis. Having previously served as an interim board member of the United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF), contributing in the areas of project planning, administration and funding, Izzy has worked in several roles for IMMAF, first joining the team in 2013. She has also been involved in the administrative management of Safe MMA, a voluntary medical project dedicated to the safety of mixed martial artists in the UK since the organisation’s inception in 2012.


I spoke with Izzy for the Beyond the Cage project about the work that IMMAF, as well as Safe MMA do, along with the general state of regulation in this country, and beyond. Here's a taste of what was said:
